One phrase that I seem to encounter a lot recently, to my annoyance, is one of the only. Hmm. Well, which is it? Is it the only one, or is it one of a few? Like its cousin, rather unique, this phrase is frustratingly indecisive : unique - or just rare or unusual?

Not that I remember, mate! It seems to be popping up a lot in Sherlock fic at the moment and I think I encountered it once or twice too often! ;)
