Moving....
I am planning to be around less from now until about February, because there is every chance that we will be moving house between now and then, so I have to put some serious work into getting the house in shape to sell - as well as househunting for a new one.
*sigh*
I'm not unhappy to be moving exactly - we moved here under difficult circumstances and it's never really felt like home to me. In fact I've felt quite isolated and depressed here. It is beautiful, though, and we're moving to the suburbs, so there'll be no more screeching flocks of cockatoos in the trees or long, winding, fern-fringed roads.
OTOH, I may actually be able to get a job, once we're settled in, and it will be much quicker for eldest child to get to school. At the moment he takes a bus to the end of the trainline and then a train about 45 minutes to school. (I'll probably have to get a job given that the houses in closer are more expensive...) It will also be nicer not to have to make a day-trip to have access to cultural events.
The actual precipitating cause of the move, though, is that my husband's workplace has decided to consolidate all their IT staff in one place, and of course they've chosen to do that at central office which is a ridiculously inacessible commute from here. One of his workmates is married to a doctor who has a practice even further out than we are, and he is thinking of resigning because they just bought a house out there and the commute would be insane. Like my husband, he asked before taking the job if there were plans to leave the current location and was told 'no', but things change I suppose.
Given that eldest has been nagging to move since starting high school I find it rather amusing that the first thing he said was "Oh, so I won't get to see my friends on the train any more!" I guess after two years he'd acclimatised to the journey! I told my Mum that just to hear her laugh.
